Sharlynn Vee, Vintage Sign photographer is taking the Vintage Sign world by storm. Her background, like most, started with a single means of inspiration that drives the work she does today. When Sharlynn was a young child, she often went on road trips to Las Vegas with her father. Her father passed away when she was 12, and since then, she associates vintage signs from that era with fond memories of him. Sharlynn spent a decade overseas, and upon returning to the US, she was saddened by the disappearance of many of the beautiful signs that once lined the roadways. She set out to photograph vintage signs and present them as pieces of art, to be treasured and not discarded. She feels that vintage neon signs are pieces of our American cultural history. Sharlynn is a self-taught photographer and began her photographic journey while living in Japan. Since then, Sharylnn’s love for the art has evolved and made her an icon amongst the Vintage Sign world. She is one of the founding members of the Sign Geeks group that met on Instagram. Sign Geeks takes several trips per year to locations that are dense with vintage signs. Sharlynn is a major advocate for the preservation and restoration of neon signs through photography. She is also a member of the Society for Commercial Archeology and the Museum of Neon Art. Sharlynn has garnered national attention from magazines such as Los Angeles Magazine, The Los Angeles Beat, Plastic Water and Likes Magazine. She is also the First Place award winner for the Instacanvas/Twenty20 ” Vintage Photo Challenge”, and has had her photography utilized for the Commute Group Art Show (pictured in gallery). Sharlynn has also worked with bands in cover art for their albums and has even had a photo utilized by the UCLA Center for Performing Arts (Photo of Chelsea Wolfe in gallery). Sharlynn is an incredible talent, and I am very pleased to present to you her amazing work. Below are some of the exhibitions and articles she has been featured in:
